There are folks who say that higher education is a waste of time. I disagree with that, but I sure wish the administrators of our Institutions of Higher Learning would make more sense. They’re so hoplophobic that in one case, they’re even closing down popular gun *safety* classes. Isn’t safety supposed to be..umm…good?
Also, this weekend, I met Emily Miller, who just put out a book, “Emily Gets Her Gun, but Obama Wants To Take Yours”. We’ll tell you about that meeting.
Finally, we hear from an American Citizen who emigrated here from Castro’s Cuba some 40+ years ago. He provides some hard-core, first-hand wisdom of why the right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed.
Good episode. When it comes to God given freedom to self defense, affirmed by our Second Amendment, you are solid as a rock. I must say however Emily Miller and myself understand that not all liberals are gun banners, but right now all gun banners are liberals. Quite frankly you sound more Libertarian than liberal. I know your definition of liberal may be slightly different than my own, but I am a mainstream conservative independent voter. I think what really is hard for me to understand is the people that are liberal and say they are for the Second Amendment, and vote for Barack Obama, and other dedicated gun banners, who would take there guns away in a heartbeat, like your own San Francisco liberal, Diane Feinstein who stated she would if she could, ban all guns. “Yes Mr. And Mrs. America, turn them all in,” she also said. Listening to your show, I know you must not have voted for liberals like Feinstein.
Thanks! And you’re right, I would never vote for someone that hypocritical. You know Sen. Feinstein’s had a concealed handgun permit since the 1970’s? But to her, “If I could’ve gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright BAN, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ’em all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.”
Sadly, not all gun banners are Liberals. Actually, they’re what I’d call “Progressives”, most of ’em, and unfortunately it goes beyond that, too. We also have some Conservatives who are for gun restrictions, from Gov. Reagan (signed the California Mulford Act) to Pres G. H. W. Bush (signed the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990) and supported by both Democratic Progressives (somewhat expected) and Republican Conservatives (which surprised me) in both chambers of the Congress. When the GFSZA of 1990 got struck down by the Supreme Court, it was passed again in 1995 (with a SCOTUS-friendly tweak) by the “New Republican Congress” in 1995 (led by Speaker Gingrich) and hurriedly signed into law by Pres. Bill Clinton. As Newtown, VA Tech, Columbine, and Aurora, CO show, “gun-free zones” are really “mass-murderer enabler” zones. We need to repeal this dangerous law that just got 20 of our kids killed.
That’s why I say this isn’t about Democrats or Republicans. They’re both power-hungry. This is also why I say that being pro-2A is actually the most Liberal thing I can imagine myself doing. Our government is designed for us not to completely trust those in power, and we must not, regardless of their Party.
